Dart3D Target Mounts - Autodarts Setup Guide

Thank you for purchasing your Autodarts Mounts from my store, I really appreciate it!

This guide relates to Dart3D Target Mounts

I hope you’re happy with your camera mounts. If you have any questions or issues, please get in touch and I’ll do my best to help. My aim is to get you up and running with Autodarts as smoothly as possible.

A few important notes:

• All of the screws you need are included.
• These mounts are designed for  32mm x 32mm camera modules, such as OV9732 and OV2710 units.
• (If you purchased without cameras) When your cameras arrive, you may need to break off the outer edge of the board for them to fit, this is standard practice for these models. Let me know if you need more help with this.
• The mounts clip onto the Target Corona Vision and should be placed at the optimal positions (see below).
  
• Please do not use any powertools or drills with 3d prints, and do not place in direct sunlight or use in conditions over 50°c.

Camera set up

If you bought mounts with cameras, skip to the Installation step

If your cameras have arrived with an outer border like below, you will need to remove them in order for them to fit in the mount

I usually remove them by clipping the corners with wire cutters and then gently pulling at the border with up and down motions:

Once the cameras are the right size, they can be screwed into the mount, using 2 screws.

GXIVISION cameras should be installed with the writing upside down and the clip at the top of the mount. HBV cameras should be installed with the writing the right way up and the clip at the bottom - this will ensure that your cameras are facing the right way during Autodarts calibration

Pass the cable through the bottom of the mount, clip first (not the usb end). Once fed through, you can connect the clip to the camera.

Installation 

Once the cameras have been installed the mounts can be connected to the light ring. Place them in one of the optimal positions as below:

The mounts can be clipped on to the ring as shown below. They can be removed by pulling the top clip back until it clicks off:

Plug all three USB cables into USB 2.0 ports on your device and load up the Autodarts software.

You may need to adjust the focus by gently twisting the camera lens whilst viewing the camera through the Autodarts client. Be very careful doing this, as overtightening will destroy the camera.

A great tip for focusing is placing a card or any small piece of paper with text and wedging it between the board and surround opposite the camera position. You can use the text to focus the camera.

Camera Cap and Lens Hood

Your Target Mount should work fine using the normal camera cap, however in some cases lens flare can cause issues with accuracy. This is where light from the light ring causes bright circles, rings, starbursts, or a hazy overall effect in the image, it may appear as a rainbow affect. I have designed a lens hood cap to go with this mount that can be used if this is the case.

It is quite rare to see lens flare with the newer camera units and firmware, but it can still affect certain camera brands, so I still include these with each order.

Notes that may help:

• Ensure your Target Corona Light Ring is pushed on properly, this can affect vibration.
• Tidy away cables behind the board. Make sure there is nothing moving in the view of the cameras, moving cables can trigger takeout mode.
• Accuracy can be affected by external factors, such as dart colour, dart board, lighting, etc. Robbel has put together a great informative video which may help.
• Hitting the light ring with a dart or hand will trigger takeout mode with any ring mounted camera - this can not be avoided. If this happens, you will need to click 'calibrate' (the little cross hair button) and/or reset to reset your turn.
