Autodarts FAQ
What is Autodarts?
Autodarts is a free to play Darts Autoscoring Software. You can join in by building a DIY solution, you can build your own set up by connecting cameras to a device (such as a Windows PC) and running the Autodarts software client.
Once connected and running, you can log in to play.autodarts.io on any device and use the registered "board" to play.
Some people design and build there own mounts using cameras and 3D printed mounts, however for those who don't have a 3D Printer, Dart3D can help.

What are the hardware requirements for Autodarts?
Autodarts list the minimum requirements as:
- CPU: 2x2.0GHz or 4x1.5GHz
- RAM: 1GB
- USB: 3 ports for cameras (at least 2 separate USB Buses)
- Storage: At least 1GB of free Storage
However we recommend that you look for a device with minimum 8GB RAM.
Autodarts can be downloaded on Windows, Linux or Mac (not compatible on Chromebooks or with Chrome OS).
Many recommend using a Raspbery Pi 5 or Windows Thin Client PC.
Laptops can cause problems due to low USB bandwidth.
Can I install the cameras in any position?
It is recommended to use the orientation as shown in the Camera Position guide. The view of the most played field (20) is better for all three cameras. If you position a camera over the 20, there is a slight chance that a dart can block the view and the recognition won’t work as well.
However, it is up to you where you position the cameras, as long as they are 120° apart.
I only see one or two cameras in the board view, what can I do to fix this?
- Test if all three cameras are working by connecting them one by one to ensure there is no defective hardware.
- Ensure you use different USB buses for the cameras. (At least 2 different ones)
- Use an active USB-hub to provide enough/more power for the cams.
- Try to reduce the resolution in your board manager, 800x600 is absolutely fine.
- You could try to use the UVC Hack, if you are on Linux.
Where can I download Autodarts?
You can download the Autodarts client software from autodarts.io/downloads on the device that is connected to the cameras.
You can play from any device by logging in to play.autodarts.io
Can I play locally with friends?
Yes, you can play locally with your friends or against bots; just add them during the game creation process.
Can I plug the cameras into a hub or splitter?
Some hubs work fine and others don't work at all, it's a tough one for me to give advice on. It is recommended that 3 USB cables go into 3 USB 2.0 ports on your computer.
Can I use a laptop?
It is recommended to use a PC/Thin Client/Raspberry Pi 5.
I use a Thin Client PC.
Some laptops work ok, it depends on USB bandwidth which is different for different models, but usually low on most laptops.
The cameras I bought are too big for the mount?
You will need to remove the outer border of the camera unit, I tend to cut the corners with wire cutters and use plyers to gently remove the border, using up and down motions. Please see the video on the product guides page.
My cameras aren't calibrating?
Make sure the board is facing the right way on the screen, the board should be at the bottom facing up. You can turn them during set up. Also - there is an issue with Autodarts and Target TOR boards - this can be solved by changing the number ring.
If I buy the mounts with cameras and decide to move on to another solution, can I reuse the cameras?
Yes, all of our cameras and mounts can be disassembled and reused.
Can I use these cameras with Dartcounter?
Unfortunately not, however Autodarts offers similar functionality to Dartcounter with an ever growing community, and is completely free to play with no subscription.
