Frequently Asked Questions About Autodarts Camera Mounts
The best part of starting Dart3D, and the reason we’re still going, is the incredible interaction we've had with customers. Many of you are starting your Autodarts journey and looking for the best value setup—and we’re here to help.
Our absolute favourite part? When customers message us with photos or videos showing off their finished setup (and yes, we love this—keep them coming!)
We've been asked a lot of questions, so we’ve gathered the most common ones here to make life easier. If yours isn't listed, drop it in the comments!

Can I plug the cameras into a hub/splitter?
Some hubs work fine and others don't work at all, it's a tough one for me to give advice on. It is recommended that 3 USB cables go into 3 USB 2.0 ports on your computer.
Can I use a laptop?
It is recommended to use a PC/raspberry pi. I use a thin client PC. Some laptops work ok, depends on USB bandwidth which is different for different models.
Which legs do they connect to out of the 4?
It's user preference but the most common I see used is two at the top and one on one of the sides at the bottom.
Isn't it better to place these at 120 degrees angles?
Yes it is, which is why wall mounted arms always give the best experience, but autodarts still works with cameras placed on three of the 4 target corona legs.
What are the little clips for that come with them?
Some people swear by them and some don't use them. They are designed to stabilize the mount to the ring to minimize shaking, which can cause issues.
The clips just seem to fall off
Try wedging them under the lens
The cameras I bought are too big for the mount?
You will need to remove the outer border of the camera unit, I tend to cut the corners with wire cutters and use plyers to gently remove the border, using up and down motions.
My cameras aren't calibrating
Make sure the board is facing the right way on the screen, the board should be at the bottom facing up. You can turn them during set up. Also - there is an issue with autodarts and Target TOR boards - this can be solved by changing the number ring.
It always hangs on takeout and I always have to click next
This is probably caused by vibration in the light ring, a great solution is to use the "Tools for Autodarts" plug in on Chrome (or Firefox if using mobile or tablet) and change the takeout settings.
In fact I recommend installing the plug in either way because there are some really cool things in there.
What can I do to improve accuracy?
Use silver points rather than black, use non black flights, tweak the board config.
If I buy the mounts with cameras and decide to move on to another solution, can I reuse the cameras?
Absolutely, the mounts are easy to disassemble in order to take the cameras out.
